Theatre for Kids

Explore the world of theatre! Using children’s stories, masks and music, we will create a unique theatre piece. Creation of the set, props and costumes will involve use of recycling goods.

For:  ages 5-11 (some flexibility at instructor’s discretion); minimum 5; maximum 15

Theatre for Youth:  Beginning Acting

Involves working on a scene while learning the basics of acting and scene study.

Design & Create Fine Silver Precious Metal Clay Earrings

Saturdays, September 18, October 16 OR November 20, 10:30am-1:30pm

You will design and create an original pair of earrings in this beginner level class. Learn sculpting, texturing, cutting, torch firing, finishing, the application of patinas and jewelry assemblage. Take one, two or all three classes and create something unique each time!

For:  adults and ages 14-17 with an adult; minimum 4; maximum 7

Supplies provided by instructor.

$50 for 1 class; $35 supply fee payable in cash to instructor at class

 

Sun Salutations I (Surya Namaskar)

Tuesdays, October 5-26, 4:30-5:45pm

Sun Salutations, known in Sanskrit as Surya Namaskar, is a sequence of yoga poses strung together and performed one after another in a Vinyasa, or Flow Style, creating a feeling and resemblance to an artful or sacred dance. Once learned, these 12 poses may be performed at a slow tempo to gain strength, flexibility and stamina or at a quicker pace to gain aerobic benefit. They may also serve as a template for beginning a home practice.

For:  adults - moderate to intermediate level of activity; minimum 3; maximum 8

Supplies& Notes:  Bring yoga mat; dress comfortably for full range of movement.

$50 for 4 classes

 

The Wonder of it All (Yoga)

Each day is an opportunity to start fresh! Use yoga to rekindle the wonder of life and reconnect with the bounty and beauty of nature. With movement and breath, visualization and relaxation, we will greet the day with a fresh, new, revitalized body, mind and spirit!

Gentle Yoga for the Home or Office

This course is designed for the active stay-at-home or out-and-about office/desk/ computer user. Poses will be geared toward preventing and may alleviate common stresses and strains that come with full days of keyboarding and prolonged sitting.

For:  adults - beginners welcome (if new to yoga, please consult your doctor before starting an exercise program); minimum 3; maximum 8

Kid’s Knitting

Knit a stylin’ headband over two Saturdays. Parents can knit along, too*.

Bookmaking

Saturday, October 23 OR November 13; 10am-2pm

Students will learn how to make hand-bound blank books using a variety of techniques, including Japanese stab binding, hard cover and soft cover books. Hand-batiked fabric from Ghana, West Africa will be provided for covers. Make one for yourself or a gift for someone.

For:  age 8+; minimum 4; maximum 16

Supplies& Notes:  Provided by instructor and included in cost. Bring snack/drink (no vending machines).

Yoga, Meditation and Relaxation I

As the earth becomes still in winter, it allows the fall seeds to lie dormant yet gather strength during their resting phase in preparation for spring. So will we follow the natural cycle of the season with poses and mindfulness practices that calm and quiet the body, mind and heart.

For:  adults; all levels welcome/no experience required; minimum 3; maximum 8

Supplies & Notes:  Bring yoga mat; some available to loan – please reserve when registering. Dress comfortably; room is warm.
